Android App

I have just created my first Android app using a website called http://www.appsgeyser.com/. It simply puts a mobile website into an app form. That's what i used to create an app that links someone to this blog. I am now researching into submitting it to the Android market.

So if you want to keep up to date without opening the quite frankly not very good Android browser (unless you have a custom ROM), then get the app.

If you want to download it now, get a barcode scanning app and scan this bad boy:

Or direct download here

Christmas

It's that time of year again. The time of year where everyone is willing to pay loads of money on presents for (usually ungrateful) people, gets themselves in debt for 10 months, then has to do it all over again for next Christmas.

Now, i don't like Christmas. I'll tell you why. As my best friend Andrea, and my girlfriend Tracey, and probably a few other people know, i don't like people buying me things. I like to get things myself. However, I do like to buy people things occasionally. Although i don't like it forced on me every year like Christmas does.

Also, Christmas is for Christians. Which I'm not. I'm atheist. I don't believe in any god or "superior", omnipotent being, or Jesus. I believe in science. Hard evidence. The only time Christmas isn't for Christians is when its for kids. Christians and kids (and i suppose parents) are the only people who should celebrate the birth of Jesus. I'm not going to celebrate something i don't believe in. That's why i also don't believe in converting to different religions. You aren't going to start believing in a god you've never believed in before. If you believe in that god, you would have already been that religion. Am i right? HIGH FIVE! Don't leave me hangin', brah.

Christmas is just an ordinary day for me. If i get any presents (which i hope i don't), i open them, then get back to what i do any other day, go on the computer or PS3 or whatever. The things I normally do. Christmas is nothing to me except a pain in the cornhole.

That's without mentioning disruption to public transport. Where i work, we're open every day except Christmas day. And i get to work by bus, which on Boxing day (26th December for those that don't know) is at a reduced service, which can make it hard to get to work. should be easier now though, since our opening times have been reduced.

Anyway, think what you want about me. I don't like Christmas. It just brings trouble and makes life harder.

Or maybe I'm just a grinch.

GTA 5 "Responsible for Virginia Tech Shooting"?

Here's what annoys me. There's people, usually politicians and other such "powerful" people, who like to accuse games of making people go on violent rampages. A recent one was some guy going around Virginia Tech and shot and killed a cop then shot himself, which i hadn't heard of until today.

I saw it posted on a Facebook fan page of Grand Theft Auto V (https://www.facebook.com/GrandTheftAutoV5). And today, it posted a link to it's blog: http://grandtheftautov5.blogspot.com/2011/12/stupid-website-claims-mw3-bf3-and-gta-v.html, which is a post about GTA 5, MW3, and Battlefield 3 being accused by some website called myona.com of influencing the 22 year old dude that shot this cop.

Firstly, Modern Warfare 3 wasn't even out at the time, and GTA 5 isn't out now, and won't be for a while. So apparently Battlefield 3 influenced him. So what he did was strategically and stealthily, go around the school, or whatever Virginia Tech is, and silently take out the cop. You know, like in a lot of modern games. He didn't? Oh, so what it said was a load of old crap then? Yep.

In fact games VERY VERY rarely influence people in a negative way. How many copies of MW3 were sold? 6.5 million in the UK and US. In one day. So there's millions of people who have played MW3 going around shooting people? No. There isn't. Actually it's more likely that games like that relive stress and let their violence out without harming anyone. Apart from camping cunts. So clearly, they don't know what they're talking about.

It also says on that website that the shooter's "style of the killing is similar to the upcoming Rockstar’s title Grand Theft Auto V". So apparently they've played the game. Because I'm pretty sure there's only been one trailer out and it doesn't show any gameplay. Even if they referred to GTA IV, there isn't any point in the game, or MW3 of BF3, where anyone goes around a school and shoots a cop. although in GTA there is a lot of cop shooting. Maybe next time it should be a myona.com writer. OOH SCANDAL. Now I've just influenced people and they;ll go around killing news website writers.

Clearly whoever wrote that article (a Mr. Amir Ariff) was just after internet traffic (just like i am with this blog post). It has 363 comments on it. the next highest amount of comments on an article on that website is... 7. Most of the commenters are probably people from that GTA 5 blog page though.

It says in that article that the guy was "quiet". In other words, he just kept it quiet that he was going to go crazy. He must have some mental illness. All i know is that it wasn't the game. I've been playing games since i can remember and i turned out relatively OK. I've never shot anyone (that I've been caught for). Kidding.

So myona.com, you might want to think about what you put next time. And that's the nice way of saying it.

On a lighter note, I was going to play DC Universe Online on PS3 since it became free to play. So i start it up, update. I expected that. What i didn't expect was after the update it has to download data. 12GB of it. So far it's been going for 50 minutes. and it's done 15%. It's going to take over 4 hours. So i'll do something else. Maybe play some OnLive. Actually i recorded Jumper last night so i might watch that. Oh crap, i recorded it on my PS3, and my PS3 is kinda busy downloading 12GB of data for 4 hours. OK, different plan.

Oh yeah, and i'm also growing a beard. Anyway, i need to poo. Ciao!

My Trip

Ok, so yesterday i got back from Dublin after spending almost a week with my perfect girlfriend Tracey. It was amazing. I've never felt so compatible with someone. She really is my soulmate and I don't want anyone else. Except Jessica Alba, but she knows about that.
But yeah, we spent most of the time playing games and having sex and reinstalling windows on her computer and trying to install Ubuntu, which wasn't co-operating. It would help if it had a working cd drive (good job i brought my blu-ray drive) and a bigger than 40gb hard drive .
She took me to Dublin town into a retro game shop called rage. It was heaven.  I also saw the famous spike. It was taaaaaall.
We watched the notebook together while eating pizza. She cried at the end. So did i. Not really. I didn't!
Anyways, it was amazing. I couldn't keep my hands off her. I love her so fucking much. She's perfect for me

Milestone

OK, so i did a blog a while ago about hitting 1000 views. I thought that was pretty impressive (for me). Now i'm at almost 1500 views. 1500! HOW?! WHO?! I did ask for people to leave a comment if they read it, they obviously totally ignored that, except my sexy girlfriend Tracey who comments on most.

So get to work. Start reading some more and make me hit 1500. And then 2000. And then i'll TAKE OVER THE WOOOOORLD. Or something. I'm sure there was something else i wanted to say as well but i can't remember what. Oh well, i'll do another blog when i remember it. If i do.

Oh, and i think you should ALL read my blogs many times and share them with EVERYONE you know so i can go OVER 9000?!!??!?! Ah i love that.

New Kind of Gaming. And Ireland

Hello children. in today's lesson, i would like to teach you about an interesting gaming service you may or may not have heard of. Probably not. It is called OnLive. I'll explain why it's different

This is a gaming service that, instead of having physical disks or other media, or downloading a digital copy, you get games STREAMED to you over the interwebs. Kind of like a YouTube video. Only you control it. Naturally you'll need a relatively decent internet connection. 5meg is recommended. I have 10 (apparently). As long as you have a decent connection, it's suprisingly fast. Although when it does have speed problems, it really can fuck up your game quite bad. It got me killed once in Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Which leads me on to another subject: Games. The games that are available. There's quite a few. Although they don't seem to get released on there the same time as the same game on other systems, you usually have to wait a few weeks. Although there are quite a few games of varying quality. Here's the list for the UK: http://www.onlive.co.uk/games/featuredgames#&tab=all_games

You can get games in full for a set price, like £30 or thereabouts, or you can get the playpack bundle, which gives you the ability to play lots of games for just under £7 a month. Oh, and you get the first game for £1. Great value isn't it! You can get it for Winblows and Mac(unfortunately not Linux. Yet), or you can get the onlive console (like i have), for i think £70 or £80 (i got mine for £50 off ebay). It's a well made piece of kit. It's well built, has HDMI, 2 USB ports, optical digital out, and it comes with a wireless controller, which also feels well built. Even the USB cable does. Which is a lot like an xbox controller. Which confuses me because i'm used to the PS3 controller. Some xbox compatible controllers also work.

Anyways, all in all, it's a good value service as long as you get the playpack bundle and there's a few games in there you are interested in. I recommend you try it out. And if you do, add me, micolps3. Oh and you can also save what they call brag clips, which let you save the last 10 seconds on gameplay and post it to facebook or send it as a message to someone on onlive.

You can also view other people playing games live, and they can watch you. They can also cheer and jeer you if you do good or bad. It's like facebook likes. Only with dislikes as well (still waiting for facebook to give us that).

And finally. On the 2nd December, i am going to Ireland to see my sexy perfect girlfriend, Tracey Ryan. I shall be returning on the 8th, with the infamous RyanAir (no relation to Tracey). Naturally we'll be doing something very dirty. Mud wrestling. Yeah right. I'm sure you can imagine. Yeah, that,

Anyway, i haven't been sleeping much the past couple of nights. I need sleeping pills. And i've also written quite a lot in a short amount of time (for me). I think i use brackets too much (or do i). Dammit

My New Website

I would just like to announce that i have created (in a loose sense) a website. By that i mean i have used sites.google.com to create a template for my website. You can find it at https://sites.google.com/site/mikipediaspot/home. It is pretty empty since it's brand new, but it does have a theme, some pages and some pictures. I think i've done quite well for about an hour's work though. I'll add more stuff soon.

Oh and since i did my last blog post on 14th November, my blog has hit 1300+ views. All them views and not even many comments. Post a comment if you're going to read it, so i get a better idea how many people are reading.

So go check out my website!

1000+ Views

Well it's official. My blog has hit over 1000 views. When i checked this morning, it was 1002. When i checked just now, it was 1020. So i just want to say a thank you to everyone who has read and currently reads my blogs (and will read in the future). So pass my blog on to people and keep on reading! Here's to 1000 more.

Ash

So let me tell you what happened last night.

I have a favourite band. I think we all do. But my favourite band isn't all that popular. You may not have heard of them, which is understandable. They are called Ash. They are from northern Ireland and have been around a while, about 15 years (I think '96) was their first release).

I discovered them in 2001 when I saw their song called Burn Baby Burn on I think a music channel called Q. I immediately fell in love with them and they've been my favourite band ever since

Anyways, they were doing a gig in Birmingham last night, which I knew about for a while, but didn't want to spend much more money this month so didn't get tickets. But what I didn't knew about was they were also doing a signing there, in HMV, like they did a few years ago the last time I saw then and got an album signed.

But I found out early that day, a few hours before the gig. Tidied my self up for my man, Tim Wheeler (lead singer and guitarist) and set off to see then.

Last time I saw them, they also played some songs and I was hopeful to see then do more this time. They didn't, even though I'd brought my Asus transformer to record it. I was going to take my usual HD camera, but the SD card keeps popping out. I'm currently looking for a cheap decent HD camcorder.

Anyways, I bought their new album, which is a lot like they old one, Intergalactic Sonic 7s, but not as good, waited in line to see them (after looking at cameras in Currys), and went in when it was time.

I hand the cover of the CD to Rick McMurray (drummer), he said "Alright?", I said it back. He signed it, passed it along to Charlotte Hatherley (ex backing singer, pianist, backing guitar), she signed it, passed it along, smiled at me, i smiled back (she clearly wanted to ravage me). Tim, signed it. Then he notices what I was wearing. I'd specifically put on my Ash hoodie, just in case someone noticed it. Tim did and said "Nice jacket, there". I smiled like an idiot. He then passed it to Mark Hamilton (bassist). He didn't do say or do anything.

So they handed it back. i left with a big smile, feeling very happy. I had just met my favourite band for a second time. I really should go to more of their gigs

The Death of a TRUE Technological Legend

Now we all know that Steve Jobs has died. And yeah that's sad. But what you probably didn't hear about is the death of someone more important and pioneering. A Mr. Dennis Richie. Now you probably haven't heard of him. To be honest I hadn't. But let me tell you who he is.

Dennis Richie created Unix. Unix is what Linux is based on. It is also what Mac OSX is based on. So without him, there's be no Linux and there would be no iOS or OSX.

So just think about that, Apple lovers. Think about just which one of those people are more important. The creator of Unix, the basis for the best OS (and Mac)are based on, or a guy who takes old technology and sells it at an extortionate price.

Girlfriend

So for the past couple of months, I've had a girlfriend. I've mentioned her before. The past few days she's been in England (from Ireland) staying with me. She left yesterday. It was the best few days i've had in a long time. I know she's my soul mate. We're just similar in so many ways. We're perfect for each other.

So she got here from Dublin on Friday (it's Wednesday as I write this), we stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights, then went to mine and stayed there for a couple of night. I know what you're thinking. I did want her to stay at mine the whole time, but my dad wouldn't like that. Yeah i live with my dad unfortunately.

The hotel was average. Nothing special. There was no hot water and the clock had stopped. But we managed. She bought a relatively cheap but decent 10 inch Android tablet. See, perfect. She also hates Microsoft and Apple, just like me. Oh, on a side note, I'm sitting here in a snuggie. That is all.

I did take my PS3 to the hotel with me, but i forgot to bring a video cable, so i bought a HDMI cable from i think Argos for £5, and that didn't work, so we had no PS3 games while we was there. Although we played a bit when we got to mine. We also watched Wall-E, Tron and Tron Legacy. And played Tony Hawk 2 and Fur Fighters on Dreamcast. And Black Ops on PS3 with my best friend Andrea and her daughter Sharon. With Tracey of course (Tracey was on the winning team).

When we went to buy Tracey's tablet (and my HDMI cable), we went into Currys and there was an alarm going off. Turns out there was a guy trying to steal something and they'd caught him and were holding him down. Welcome to Birmingham Tracey :D

We also watched a weird movie online. It was really weird. I won't tell you about it. Just find an hour and a half and watch it.

Autopsy: A Love Story

Oh yeah we also had a lot of amazing sex. Especially the first night. Damn she's one horny chick. anyway I'm hoping to go over to Dublin next month or the month after. I just want to make sure i have enough money to pay for everything i need. I don't want her paying for anything i want. I hate when people buy things for me. I like to buy my own things.

Lost

So yeah. You know how i more or less fixed my HTC Hero (or at least improved it a bit)? Yeah, i kinda lost it. I don't know if it fell out of my pocket on the bus or it may even be in my bedroom under the bed (maybe i should check). Either way, i can't find it. A thought occured to me last night. I may have insurance on it.

My bank account gives me gadget and mobile phone insurance called First Additions. Only problem is i can't log into it. I can't remember what my log in details are. So i can't do a lot about it. I could phone them up but i hate phoning companies. . Maybe i'll go into Barlcays and do it.

Anyway i think that;s all for now. Time to play Black Ops with the missus

Fixed

I've somehow managed to fix my Hero. WOO HOO! All i did was uninstall a few things. The bigger apps, that take up the most space. And it seems to have fixed it. However, i have encountered a new problem.

I have been cut off. Again. i did get cut off before (since i have a £700 phone bill), so i paid £50, then they got paid normally by direct debit (£15), which seemed to have got me back online (i only want it for internet anyway). But lo and behold, a couple of days later, it's gone again.

I should be able to use my Nokia N95 as a wireless access point, but i tried it today and it didn't work. And then i had to restart the phone because the internet wouldn't work, so i'll try it again if i need to.

Anyway i just wanted to make a quick blog saying that. Oh, and i also have an ulcer on my lip. That hurts.

That's all, byeee

Back Stabbed

Someone i love dearly has recently backstabbed me. That is technology. More specifically, my android phone that i love so much, my beautiful Google Nexus S, has recently had trouble charging. I've tried several leads and they all don't seem to work too good. However, the normal wall charger seems to work fine, although that's no use when i'm at work. So i took it back to where i got it, the Carphone Warehouse. The hot foreign blonde girl took it into the back for a few minutes, came back and said they need to send it off to the manufacturer. Which would take about 4 weeks. Yep, 4 WEEKS. What the fuck takes them 4 weeks?!

Anyways, i've had to resort to using my other android phone, my HTC Hero, which i use a bit anyway, and my even older phone, the Nokia N95. Not touch screen. Retro. I've also been having trouble with the Hero. The screen isn't very good anymore. And when it's a touch screen phone, that ins't good. especially when you try to use the touch screen keyboard. The main problem seems to be the L on the keyboard, i can't directly touch it. I have to touch the K and slide over to the L. Also, occasionally it randomly types letters or clicks things or zooms in/out of web pages. However, i have found a solution to the typing problem. A bluetooth keyboard. It never used to work but does now for some reason. Maybe they integrated into android 2.3.5 or they just put it into the custom rom i use. Good old Cyanogenmod.

Naturally my increased usage in my Nokia means i have to take a charger to work. It doesn't charge over USB, luckily i have an old charger that plugs into the USB into a computer and the other end into the normal charging hole. That works fine.

One more thing that has failed me recently, in fact it;s failed a LOT of people, is Dead Island on PS3. I play it, it saves at checkpoints, i stop playing and play the next day or whatever, then when i go back, i'm back many missions earlier. and i played it for several hours one day, going through several missions, hoping there were like more major checkpoints it saves at, but no, i'm still back loads of missions. So i'm not playing it again until there's an update.

And you all know about the PS3 backup that failed to restore properly (or back up properly), assuming you read that post. So yeah, technology hates me. AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR IT! ALL I'VE EVER DONE IS LOVE YOU!

I'm going to eat ice cream and watch The Notebook while i cry

Realisation

OK, so I've thought of something. I have Google adsense. For those of you that don't know what that is, it means I get paid for having ads on websites I have. So far, the last time checked, I hadn't earned any money at all. And what I've realised is I think I need to make more blogs to get some cash. The more I make, the more it'll get linked to from Google, which means I'll get more readers, which means hopefully people well click on ads they see, which means I get my money.
Since I haven't had any yet, I don't know how much I'll get. Probably not even that much. As well as people not actually liking ads, and ignoring then, there's also something else that's going to stop me getting monies. Adblockers. So people might not even see my ads if they have adblockers.
So if you have then enabled, disable them on this page. For me. Every little helps. Even though it'll probably be just a few pence
On a related note, I'll also accept donations via Paypal :D The email for that is micolps3@gmail.com. (except for Andrea)
Anyway I just wanted to get they off my chest. I started this blog at about 4pm and it's now 5.45. Work has been very busy.
So see you all next time

Freaky Friday

So I've just found on the android market the official blogger app. I wish i'd known about it sooner. It would have made mobile blogging easier. Not like I would have anyway.
Anyways, what I wanted to tell you about today is a slight but annoying issue I had yesterday.
So for a while I've been wanting to exchange my fat ps3 for a slim one. So obviously I backed up all my data from the old one onto an external hard drive, got the slim one, restored my data. And it restored the game saves. But not all of them. Actually most. Except the one I wanted. Deus Ex. It didn't even restore the games. None of them. As far as I can tell, it's restored all of my game saves except Deus Ex. That's all it's restored.
Whether it's because it's on a different console I don't know. But I really wanted my Deus Ex save. I got really far on it. I do have a game save on there personal cloud that Sony give to PSN users, but it's several days old. It's really annoying that that's the only game save that didn't back up.
So yeah, that's what I wanted to rant about. It's 7.30 am on Saturday morning, I'm at work and I didn't get much sleep last night, as usual. I never do when I have to be up early for work. That's annoying.
On a side note, I've decided to stop buying Ribena because it has a lot of sugar in it. So I've started buying Oasis instead. That has less sugar. And hopefully gets rid of my thirst better. I find all too many drinks don't make me much less thirsty, they just make my throat wet (that's what she said).
This is actually turning out to be quite a long blog. At least on my mobile. Obviously on a widescreen monitor it'll be shorter. But it's still quite long for one of blogs. I'm just talking crap aren't i. I'll shut up

Broke

OK, so it's been a while since i've done a blog. No reason for that other than nothing has happened. Except i ran out of money with 5 days till pay day. Literally £0 in my bank account. I actually had to borrow £10 off my dad, and i hate borrowing money. Luckily i don't have any more working days, i have the next 2 days off and i get paid Friday so i won't need more moneys.

As we speak, i'm playing Black Ops with the missus. I'm kicking her ass :)

So after leaving the computer for a couple of hours after starting this, i'm back. I kicked my girlfriend's sexy bum.

So now i'm in the kitchen making dinner. I need to pee. I always do when i go into the kitchen. Weird. And my jeans keep falling down because im getting fatter and fatter and the buttons keep breaking. I have them "western style" instead of a zip. And my fat belly has broken most apart from the very bottom one (which makes it too loose) and the very top one (which makes it too tight). And i can't be arsed to use a belt. Fascinating isn't it.

Anyway i'm getting Tracey to install ubuntu on her laptop so i'm going on video chat on PS3. See yaaaaa

A Bit About Me

Ok, so for those of you that haven't read my profile, here are a few things about me.

I... am Michael. Shocking right? I'm 26, I live in Birmingham, England. i do have the accent. I have a girlfriend. Her name is Tracey, she's 31, from Ireland. I'll tell you more about her in another post.

I currently work part time in a call centre in Birmingham city centre. It pays decent, but i want to work somewhere i actually enjoy. It's not a bad place, but the work is quite repetitive.

I'm a geek. I like lots of computer and technology related things. You know i'm a geek when i'm the person people go to when they have problems with their computer. I'm also a linux user. I'm against Apple and Microsoft and i only use them when i have to. Like at work. I prefer to use free, open source software as opposed to buying stuff. No point if you can get it for free, right?

I'm also a gamer. Not just modern games. But old ones. I have some pretty old games consoles, the oldest is an Amiga 500. I also have an Amiga 1200, a Super Nintendo, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast. And dome more modern ones like PS3, PSP... that's all :D

I also have 2 Android phones. a HTC Hero and a Google Nexus S. I also have an Android tablet, An Asus Transformer. With the dock. It's awesome. They all are. Except the Hero.

anyway that's enough geekiness from me. Have any questions, ask. Follow my blog. All that shiznit. I don't remember if i told you my youtube account. I think so, but just in case i didn't it's http://www.youtube.com/user/micol19 and my Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/micol25.

That's enough blabbering from me, see ya next time.

The First

ok so this is obviously my first blog. as you can tell by this being my only one. i didn’t want to name it "my first blog". That’s too common. So what i plan to do is occasionally make a blog telling anyone that looks at this thing things that happen in my life. the interesting things. not a lot happens in my life so don’t expect many.

I'm currently typing this on my android phone. it doesn’t seem to work very well with it so i should remember to go on it on my computer when i get home.
ok well I'm out of things to say now. when I'm on a computer I'll use better grammar and punctuation. i just cant be bothered on mobile. next time i'll tell you more about myself. also i have a youtube account on youtube.com/user/micol19 (i think).

Have fun and no rioting!
